Janet had been employed for 30 years as the Tax Collector, Treasurer, Clerk and Registrar of Vital Statistics for both the Borough of Haddonfield and Tavistock. She was past Pres. of the State and County Tax Collectors & Treasurers Assoc. as well as actively involved with Easter Seals, Audubon All Girls Drum & Bugle Corps and Haddonfield Little League.

On January 16, 2012. Age 81. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Thomas A. Noone and mother of Kathleen Leonczyk (Kenneth) of Charlotte, NC; Ann Sieber of Haddonfield; Thomas A. Noone, Jr. of Newton, MA; James A. Noone II (Jennifer) of Deerfield, IL; Patrick Noone, MD (Manjula) of Monte Sereno, CA; Michael Noone, MD (Ann) of Glenview, IL; Maura Noone of Santa Fe, NM and Brian Noone of Arlington Hts., IL. Also survived by 12 grandchildren: Kenneth, Jr. (Ashley), Thomas and Michael Leonczyk; Matthew and Cameron Sieber; Kelsey and James A. Noone, III; Brendan Noone; Megan, Emily, Katherine and Abigail Noone.
Mrs. Noone grew up in Greenville, PA and graduated from St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing in Youngstown, Ohio. In the early1950’s, she joined the first Department of Nursing at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, NJ as an Operating Room Nurse. Peggy was a past President of the Lourdes Hospital Auxiliary and an active member of the Camden County Medical Society Auxiliary. She resided in Haddonfield for over 50 years and was a longtime member of Tavistock Country Club.
Peggy lived a life of dedication to her husband, Tom, and to her family. She was a boundless source of faith, energy and optimism. Her love and loyalty are a powerful legacy for her children and grandchildren.

RICHARD LYNN “Rick” “Choo Choo” Van Sciver

On Jan. 15, 2012, beloved husband of Sherri Stewart-Van Sciver, loving father of Richard “Lug” L., Jr. (Angela Holt) and Christopher, both of Masonville, devoted grandfather of Richard L., III. Also survive by 2 brothers, Robert of Atco and Kevin of Masonville, 1 sister, Jane Coles of Lumberton, his mother-in-law, Janice Stewart of Haddon Twp., his special niece, Jane Gallagher, other nieces and nephews and his dog, Melvin. He was predeceased by his brother Warren.
Rick had been the Forman of Sanitation for Mt. Laurel Twp. for 37 years. He was a volunteer fire fighter for 40 years and was a Life Member of the Masonville Fire Co. No. 1 of the Mt. Laurel Fire Dept. He also served as a volunteer member of the Masonville Emergency Squad (Now Mt. Laurel EMS), where he held the rank of Lieutenant and was a Life Member as well.
Rick was a Life Member delegate to the NJ State Fireman’s Assoc.; Pres of the Mt. Laurel Twp. Relief Assoc., and Secretary of the Masonville Fire Co. Rick also chaired the fire company’s Parade and Antique Ladder Committees.
Additionally, he enjoyed hunting and was an avid fan of Nascar, football and drag racing. His favorite place was Chelsea, VT; where he had vacationed for the last 19 years and had hoped live after retirement.

AGE 86 * HADDONFIELD, NJ
On Dec. 27, 2011, resident of Haddonfield for 59 years, husband of Nancy (nee Bailey), father of Susan Zellmer Clarke (Thomas) of Eden Prairie, MN and J. Robert Zellmer (Ginny) of Hickory, NC. Also survived by 5 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, 3 step-children, and 9 step-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Esther Zellmer, and his sister, Phyllis Johnson, of Chicago, IL.
Enlisted at 17 in the Naval Air Corps, Mr. Zellmer received a Bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois and did his Master's work at Northwestern University. Bob enjoyed a distinguished career as a corporate executive with several organizations, including Firestone, Campbell's Soup, RCA, and Olin-Matheson. After retirement he became an Adjunct Professor in business and economics at Rutgers University, Glassboro State College, and Camden County Community College.
Mr. Zellmer’s memorial service will be held on Jan. 14th, 10 AM, at Kain-Murphy Funeral Services, 15 West End Ave., Haddonfield; where his family will receive friends following the service. EMILY M. JOHNSON
Age 91 * Medford, NJ * formerly of Haddonfield, NJ
On December 5, 2011. Emily M. Johnson (nee McCornack) died on her 91st birthday surrounded by her family. The daughter of Mary Belle and Walter E. McCornack and the sister of Richard B. McCornack, Emily was born and raised in Chicago, IL, and resided in Haddonfield, NJ, for 40 years.
Beloved wife of 57 years of the late Howard W. Johnson, she is survived by her devoted family: children Cidnie J. Richards, Nancy J. Smith, Scott R. Johnson, and the late Craig W. Johnson; grandchildren Jana Richards Taylor, Barbara K. Richards, and Wilson Woods Smith; great-grandchildren Emily and Alexander Taylor and Alice, Katherine, Ella, Aubrey, and Emelia Smith; nieces Marjorie Brink and Patricia McDonnell; and nephews E. Bartram Johnson and Andrew Johnson. She is also survived by sister-in-law Marianna Johnson and brother-in-law Delvin Johnson.
Emily received a Bachelor of Arts from Denison University and was president and lifelong member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She was an energetic community volunteer and was president of the Women's Board to Cooper Hospital.
Emily was a loyal friend, gracious hostess, enthusiastic tennis player, world traveler, and avid reader. She loved her family and friends and was loved and admired by all who knew her. She is greatly missed.

WIDELL, Wilbert E.
Age 95, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on December 30, 2011. With his Swedish immigrant father he founded a construction business, Carl E. Widell and Son, which, following World War II, thrived in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Florida. From houses to water treatment plants, highways to bridges, he led his company to projects which included construction of portions of the New Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway, an addition to the Haddonfield Presbyterian Church, Tavistock Country Club, and the New Hope-Lambertville Bridge. Additionally he founded Nelco Hardware and Stackhouse Lumber and owned South Jersey’s oldest travel agency, Viking Travel.
Born and raised in the Woodlyn section of Camden, New Jersey, he was a lifetime member of the Camden Consistory of the Masonic Lodge where he achieved the level of 32nd degree in the Scottish Rite. He was a lifetime follower of Christ and was a member of the Haddonfield United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his beloved wife Mildred of 72 years, four daughters and one son, Gwendolyn of New York City, Marilyn (Pratt) of Manassas, VA., Nelson of Pennington, NJ, Cherilyn of Chestertown, Md., and Bethlyn (Miller) of Issaquah, WA, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of his life on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Haddonfield United Methodist Church at 29 Warwick Road, Haddonfield, New Jersey 08033. All may call on the family starting at 10 AM in the Sayre Welcome Center at the Church. The funeral service will begin at 11 AM. A private interment will be held at Locustwood Memorial Park following the funeral service.

The Reverend J. Frederick Westermaier
Age 58 * Woodbury, New Jersey
Passed away suddenly on Friday, December 23rd, 2011. He is survived by his high school sweetheart, and beloved wife of 36 years, Jo Ann, his devoted children Rebekah and Jason Sterlacci and Sarah Westermaier Deasy, his dear mother Dorothy, his loving sisters Betsy Westermaier and Vicky Malthaner (brother-in-law Jay Malthaner), and his loyal dog Tux.
Fred graduated from Haddon Heights High School in 1971, Muskingum College in Ohio in 1975, and Princeton Theological Seminary in 1980. He was a Presbyterian Church (USA) pastor and served churches in Wolcott and Huron, New York for 4 years and most recently in Barrington, New Jersey for 24 years. Fred brought joy to all who knew him and could light up a room with his infectious personality and positive outlook on life. He had a great sense of humor and was always quick with a joke. He touched so many lives and will be missed by all who knew him.

On Dec. 17, 2011, lifelong Haddonfield resident, beloved husband of Laura (nee Haley) and loving father of triplets Christina H., Brendan H. and Devin H. Oakes all of Haddonfield, brother of Patricia Milligan Swain, of Cape May, NJ, Mary Jo DeCoursey of Haddonfield and the late Dorothy Stallings and Joan Dawicki. Also survived by many devoted nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Oakes graduated from Camden Catholic HS in 1967, Glassboro State College with a B.S. in Speech and Theater, Temple University with a Masters in Educational Media and finally from Rowan University with a Masters in Educational Administration. For over 40 years he had been an English teacher at Haddon Twp. HS and a teacher and supervisor in the Clayton School District and at Camden Catholic HS. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Haddonfield where he had served as a member of the Church Council and a participant and coach of the softball team. Additionally, he was a member of the Eastern Collegiate Football Officials Assoc. (1981-2006) and the NJ Football Officials Assoc. He coached Little League and Pigtail Softball and was a Cub Scout leader in Haddonfield.

Harold W. Roberts
On December 2, 2011, age 87, of Haddon Heights, Beloved husband of Jerry (nee Bennett), for over 65 years and Loving father of Stephen B. (Marcia), Brian W. (Rickie), and Gwen Staffiera. Also survived by 7 grandchildren, Erin and Kathleen Roberts, Chelsea McDermott (Chris), Matthew and Trevor Roberts, and Meghan and Jillian Staffiera, and 1 sister, Edith Huglies. Mr. Roberts was a WWII veteran. He served with the 20th Air Force - US Army Air Corp.; where he received the American Theater Campaign Ribbon Victory Medal. Professionally, Mr. Roberts owned several businesses including, Volney-Bennett Lumber Co., Mr. Roberts Lumber Centers and Roberts Management Co. Additionally, he was a 32nd degree Mason belonging to the Excelsior Consistory in Collingswood. Services were private.

(nee MacKenzie) On Nov. 29, 2011, age 98 years, of Allentown, formerly of Chestnut House in Haddonfield and a longtime Cherry Hill resident, wife of the late James M. Beloved mother of Marylin D. McNulty (Anthony) of Allentown, NJ and loving grandmother of Anthony Davie McNulty of NYC, NY and Megan McNulty (Stuart Ambrose) and of N. Hollywood, CA; cherished great grandmother of Mackenzie Leigh Ambrose and much-loved aunt and great aunt of dozens of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Davie had been one of the oldest living members of the Ashland Evangelical Presbyterian Church, having joined in 1957 and where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and served as the Guild’s Secretary & Treasurer. In addition to being a homemaker who loved cooking and baking for her family, she worked at Bromley Lace Mills in Philadelphia and also did defense work during WWII.

On Nov. 28, 2011, age 89, of Haddon Hts., formerly a resident of Cherry Hill for 32 years and husband of the late Alma (nee Newton). Beloved father of Susan D. (R. Andrew Fletcher III) of Haddon Hts., NJ, Michael E. (Susan) Davis of Bernville, PA and Raymond N. (Gail) Davis of Manahawkin, NJ; Loving grandfather of Jennifer (Gary) Dixon, Rebecca (Ernest R. Mr. Davis served in the US Army Medical Corps during WWII. He began working at Atlantic Richfield Oil Co. and after 45 years retired as the head of the payroll dept. He had been a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Jennifer Rebecca (nee Repkoe) Harper

Suddenly on Nov. 23, 2011. Devoted mother of Joshua Harper of Easton, PA, and wife of Robert Harper. Jennifer's achievements include earning her Bachelor's of Nursing in three years from Liberty University in 1994, followed by a successful nursing career. She then went on to complete a five-year apprentice program and joined the Steamfitter's Local Union 420 in 2009, following in the footsteps of her loving father. Jennifer is survived by Joshua, her pride and joy; as well as Rob and loving parents Robert and Janet Repkoe of Deptford, NJ; sister Susan E. Cusanno (Matthew) of Bristol, PA; Brendan M. Repkoe (Melissa) of Glassboro, NJ; Bradley J. Repkoe of Deptford, NJ; and niece Sophie Repkoe. On November 25, 2011, Jean Day (nee Bourn), age 95, a Haddonfield resident for 70 years and beloved wife of the late William E. Day, author of Haddonfield’s column “Day’s of Yore”. Loving mother of W. Alan (Janet) of Reston, VA, and Rob (Carol) of Medford, NJ. Also survived by 4 grandsons, Bill, Tim (Kiren), Scott and Peter (Lindsay) and a great-grandson, Jackson. She was predeceased by a devout longtime companion Frank Raible.
Jean was a volunteer at Bancroft School, and the Haddonfield Library for over 25 years. She was a volunteer at the American Cancer Society, a counselor for H.O.P.E., Town Watch captain and was actively involved in AARP. She received Haddonfield’s Senior Service Award for 2005.
She was employed by The Travelers Insurance Co. in Philadelphia and in the classified department of The Suburban Newspaper Group. She was a kind and gracious lady who was admired and well-liked by those who knew her.

Mrs. Reifsteck was a long time active member of the Haddonfield Celebrations Committee and Christ the King Church. Additionally, she was an energetic volunteer with her children’s school activities and really enjoyed her Sigma Kappa Sorority.

William E. Garwood, 92, chemist whose discoveries led to Mobil 1
William E. Garwood passed away peacefully at his home in Haddonfield NJ on November 14, 2011. He was 92.
Born in Kirkwood NJ on October 25, 1919, Bill Garwood grew up on a dairy farm and attended a one-room schoolhouse in Salem County NJ. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1942, he went to work at Socony-Vacuum in Paulsboro NJ as an organic chemist. Drafted into the Navy in 1944, he served as a radioman in the Philippines. He resumed his career at Socony after the war and undertook postgraduate study in chemistry at Temple University, Philadelphia PA, from 1947 to 1954. He retired from Mobil (the successor to Socony-Vacuum) in 1987, then continued as a consultant for Mobil Technical Co. from 1987-99 and for ExxonMobil from 2000-02.
His pioneering research in the field of organic catalytic chemistry was the basis for the development of Mobil 1 and other synthetic oils. He invented a process that transforms methane gas into gasoline, and held more than 100 patents related to organic chemistry. In retirement he researched the efficacy of zeolites in reducing ammonia in the bloodstream, as a potential means of preventing cancer.
Bill Garwood was a visiting scientist at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1969, and a member of the American Chemical Society as well as the Philadelphia Catalysis Club. He contributed more than 30 articles to professional journals and was a co-author of Shape Selective Catalysis in Industrial Applications, published in 1989.
As a member of the Haddonfield United Methodist Church for more than 60 years, Bill Garwood sang in the choir and helped rebuild the church in 1956, following a devastating fire. He was a longtime and devoted member of Haddon Grange No. 38, the Rotary Club of Haddonfield (Paul Harris Fellow), and a life member of the American Legion Post 38. His avocations ranged from building harpsichords to playing the violin, jogging, and swimming. In 2006, he published Compromise Road, a book about rural life in southern New Jersey during the 1930s.
Bill Garwood is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Betty, his son John E. of Portland OR, daughter Deborah A. of New York NY, and daughter-in-law Jacqueline Lydston, and grandson Thomas William Lydston Garwood, both of Portland OR. His daughter Christine predeceased him earlier this year.
A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on December 10, 2011 at the Haddonfield United Methodist Church, 129 Warwick Rd., Haddonfield, NJ; where friends may greet and share with the family following the service. On November 3, 2011, age 83, of Westmont, formerly a longtime Haddonfield resident, husband of the late Rosemary (nee Dunn) and father of the late Mark D. Lane. Survived by his “Darlin’ ” and companion, Cathy Schofield; 1 son, James E. Lane, of Flemington, NJ, 3 daughters, Diane M. Kerr (Scott), of Collingswood, NJ, Ellen Wetmore (Geoffrey), of Mt. Jeff graduated from the Univ. of Pennsylvania with a Ph.D., specializing in neuroscience working for the Univ. as a Research Scientist. He focused on the effects of radiation on living organisms. His research included ways to protect astronauts from radiation in space. Additionally, Jeff was a triple black belt in Tae Kwon Do and an expert marksman, who had been on the rifle team in high school.

The Rev. Edwin E. Wisser, Jr., entered eternal rest on October 20, 2011. Beloved husband of 61 years of the late Ruth (nee Bridwell). Salutatorian, Class of ’38, Allentown H.S., and then received his BA degree from Muhlenberg College ’42, Allentown, PA. He attended and earned his Bachelor of Divinity Degree from The Lutheran Theological Seminary of Philadelphia and was ordained into the ministry in Feb. 1945, retiring in Nov. 1985, after 41 years.
Devoted minister to three churches, The Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Haddonfield, NJ, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Westville, NJ, and St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Mechanicsburg, PA.
Active member in various churches and community affairs. Served as member/chaplain of the Lions Club and WBCCI. Served as President of Haddonfield Ministerial Assoc., Board of Managers of the Lutheran Home at Moorestown, and Lutheran Social Services of NJ. He also enjoyed traveling the world through tours he and his wife organized and traveled full time for 10 years across North America in their Airstream trailer.

DALZELL, Daniel V.
Daniel V. Dalzell of Haddonfield, NJ and Mountaintop, Pa. died peacefully after a brief illness on October 9, at home surrounded by family and friends.
Beloved husband of Jolyne Rocereto Dalzell; loving father of David V. (Michelle), Los Angeles and Elizabeth C., Haddonfield; dedicated grandfather of Liesl , Haddonfield and Hattie, Imogen and Gustave, Los Angeles.
Born and reared in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was a1957 graduate of Drexel Institute of Technology.
Member of Lambda Chi Alpha, Merchantville Masonic Lodge, Historical Society of Luzerne County, Suffolk Virginia Cultural Center, Suffolk-Nansemond Historical Society, Suffolk Sister Cities, Markeim Art Center, Old St. Joseph’s Church, Philadelphia.
He was a Drexel University co-operative student at The Campbell Soup Company, Camden, from 1953 to 1957 in the canned food plant. He was then appointed a corporate planning analyst in 1961 and a senior corporate planning analyst in 1967. He became manager -corporate planning in 1969, and was later, assistant advertising manager- canned foods. Subsequently, he became Director of Operations for the Restaurant Division, Eastern Region, developing the Hanover Trail Steak House Restaurants.
After leaving Campbell Soup he managed operations for the Newstand Restaurants in Philadelphia. Later he was Director of Finance at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. He then worked in the finance department at Archer & Greiner.
Dan was a committed volunteer. He served on the Commission of Social Justice for the Diocese of Camden; as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors at Mary H. Thomas Nursery Home Inc. in Camden, NJ, where he spearheaded a capital campaign for new facilities as well as procuring grants and donations for them; he was involved in United Way and committees at Old St. Joseph’s Church.
A man of many and varied interests, he held a pilot’s license, was a lover and supporter of the arts and was a loyal friend to many.
Friends may call at the Dalzell home Monday evening, October 17 from 6-8 p.m. A memorial mass will be celebrated at Old St. Joseph’s Church, 321 Willings Alley, Philadelphia at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18th. Interment was at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

On September 30, 2011, age 87, a longtime resident of Haddonfield and the beloved husband of Elsie W. (nee Weber). Loving father of Donald H., Jr. (Susan Emerson), of New York City, Richard W. Robert Donald Melson
Former Cherry Hill School Board President and Township Councilman, died Thursday, Sept. 29, at Shreveport LA. Born June 2, 1921, in Camden, Mr. Melson was a long-time South Jersey resident until his retirement from the Philadelphia Office of the Ohio Casualty Insurance Company in 1984. He was a 1943 graduate of Ursinus College in Collegeville PA. A U.S. Navy pilot in World War II, Mr. Melson served Cherry Hill (formerly Delaware Township) as a member of the school board from 1955 to 1958, and then school board president from 1958 to 1962. During that time he oversaw the tremendous growth of the Cherry Hill Schools and the construction of many new school buildings. In 1963 he was elected to the Cherry Hill Township Council, serving two four-year terms as Councilman and Deputy Mayor. He also served as a member of the Township Planning Commission and Library Board. He was a Presbyterian Elder and was active at Haddonfield Presbyterian Church as a member of the Choir and the Session. Upon moving to Shreveport LA in 1985, Mr. Melson was active in the choir and governance of First Presbyterian Church in Shreveport and served as substitute organist for various churches in northwest Louisiana. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Burns Melson; by five children, Robert D. Melson Jr. and wife Sharon, and Bruce S. Melson and wife Kathy, both of Cherry Hill; Mark A. Melson and wife Judy of Richardson TX; Carolyn Melson Loeber of Tampa FL; and Mary Melson Spreen of Palestine TX; by brother Stuart D. Melson and wife Anne of Woodstown NJ; by nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and eight nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Gove S. Jr. and Marguerite Conley Melson; sister Ruth D. Melson; and brother Kenneth P. Melson; and by great-grandson Andrew Jentes.

Additionally, Buck volunteered as both a Little League and Midget Football coach for many years. James T. Leary
James T. Leary, 88, died on Thursday, July 14, 2011 surrounded by his loving wife and four daughters. Jim was a resident of Haddon Township for nearly 60 years, and loved his neighborhood of caring friends.
Born in Northeast Philadelphia on October 25, 1922, he was the son of James Thomas Leary and Nora Walsh Leary, who both predeceased him. He is a graduate of Saint Joseph’s Preparatory School and LaSalle College, both in Philadelphia. During World War II, Jim was a radio operator and flew C46 military cargo planes over the China/Burma/India triangle. For his military service, he received the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the WW II Victory Medal. Jim had a successful career for many years as an investment advisor and financial planner for Butcher & Singer in Philadelphia and Cherry Hill.
He was an excellent golfer, playing at numerous golf courses in the Philadelphia and South Jersey area. He also was an avid contract bridge player, and was a member of the Merion Club in Philadelphia and The 65 Club in Haddonfield. He was an amateur thoroughbred race horse handicapper and enjoyed the Triple Crown races each Spring with his family. He also enjoyed frequent visits to Atlantic City and Sea Isle City. He was an amateur actor during the 1950s and 1960s in many local theater companies, including the Haddonfield Plays and Players.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice Lorraine Berrigan Leary; his daughters: Judith of Deptford, New Jersey, Maureen (Michael Naughton) of Slingerlands, New York, Nora of Woodbury, New Jersey, and Amy (Laurent Bibonne) of Havertown, Pennsylvania; and his seven grandchildren: Meghan, Dylan Kelsey, Caitlin, James, Erin, Morgan and Celine. He is predeceased by his sister, Emma Hartman Leary.

(nee Morton) on July 13, 2011, May was reunited with her dear husband Davey and her beloved daughter Ann. She passed away peacefully having been in the loving care of her son-in-law Mike Dillon, her devoted cousin Jeanette Young, her caring nephew Johnny Shaw and her loyal friend Lilly Martin. Passed away after a long illness on Sunday, June 5, 2011. After graduation from the University of Washington, Christine returned to her hometown of Haddonfield, New Jersey, to pursue additional education at Rutgers University in the fields of urban planning and nursing. She became a member of the U.S. Army Reserve, where she received nursing education and was licensed as an LPN. She served as an American Red Cross nursing volunteer and considered her Hurricane Andrew volunteer service one of the highlights of her life. Christine valued her family and advocated for justice in her own way. She will be remembered with great emotion. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William E. On May 17, 2011, age 87, of Haddonfield for over 45 years and beloved husband of the late Irene (nee McDonough) Fessler. William served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Haddonfield Legion Post #38. He was President of Frostie Enterprises, Co-owner of Stewart’s Root Beer, Entrepreneur, and author of 2 Ancestor’s Books that are in the library of Congress. He was a Judge for many years of the Miss USA Pageant. Our Dad touched so many lives. He was generous with his love. His smile and laughter will forever be in our hearts. Joyce was a 1947 graduate of Spaulding HS in Barre, VT; where she grew up, still summered and enjoyed many friendships. She had been a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Haddonfield. She sang in the choir, was a member of the Women’s Union, served on numerous boards and was a member of the Baptist Home Auxiliary in Riverton. Joyce also served as a driver for Interfaith Caregivers and was a member of the Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America. Additionally, she loved traveling with her husband and had worked as a legal secretary for many years.

On March 18, 2011, age 84, longtime Ashland & Haddonfield resident, beloved husband for 62 years of Antoinette (nee Veneziani), loving father of Louis S. (Marian of Atco, Michael D. (Doreen) of Haddonfield and Frank A., Jr. (June) of Atco, devoted grandfather of Louis Jr., Lisa Ann (Dan) Hindley, Anthony M., Joseph M., Michael L., Nicole (fiancée, Brian Matteo) and Kevin and great grandfather of Shane Kevin Hindley. He was predeceased by his brother, Steven.
Frank was proud of his service in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After his military service he turned his boyhood love of auto mechanics into his career. He obtained his teaching certification at Rutgers University in his mid-thirties and thereafter taught for 25 years at Camden County Vocational High School and in semi-retirement, at Camden County College. He also served as President of the Camden County Vocational School Teacher’s Association. Frank was a skilled craftsman at many trades and always offered his assistance to family and friends. Frank was also an active member of the Ashland Volunteer Fire Co., and was both an avid gardener and golfer.

Mr. Gallagher, a 2001 Haddonfield Athletic Hall of Fame inductee* for lettering in Football, Basketball & Baseball, graduated from Haddonfield Memorial HS, Class of 1940. He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII and went on to attend the Univ. of Pennsylvania and graduated with a degree in Accounts & Finance from The Wharton School in 1950. Locally, he was a Charter President of the Haddonfield Y’s Men, a past president of the Haddonfield Rotary, a member of Tavistock Country Club, where he had served on the Board of Governors, and had been very active with Little League.

Richard won two varsity letters in football, two in basketball and three in baseball. Punky, as he was called, played guard in basketball and was the leading hitter as a third baseman on the baseball team. On the gridiron, Punky received his greatest fame and earned the honor of being named outstanding player for his feats as the quarterback on the 1939 squad. During his senior year he also played in the Group III vs. Group IV All-Star Game. After graduation Richard played Cy Marter semi-professional football, as well as semi-professional baseball. Richard joined the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania and graduated from The Wharton School in 1950. Richard currently resides in Haddonfield, where he is active in many civic and community activities, including Little League, Haddonfield Y’s Men’s Club, and the Geographical Society of Haddonfield.

Noone II (Jennifer) of Deerfield, IL; Patrick Noone, MD (Manjula) of Los Gatos, CA; , Michael Noone, MD (Ann) of Glenview, Il; Maura Noone of Portland, OR and Brian Noone of Arlington Hts., IL. Also survived by 12 grandchildren: Kenneth, Jr. (Ashley), Thomas and Michael Leonczyk; Matthew and Cameron Sieber; Kelsey and James A. Dr. Noone was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Preparatory School and received a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania where he was a member of the Mask and Wig Club and elected to the Kite and Key Society. After completing medical school at Marquette University, he returned to NJ as an intern at Cooper Hospital followed by residencies in Obstetrics at the renowned Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital-Columbia University and in Gynecology at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Noone was a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American College of Surgeons. He practiced OB-GYN at Cooper Health System and served as the Director of the High Risk Pregnancy Clinic. He was a member of the original attending physician staff at Lourdes Medical Center where he served terms as the President of the Medical Staff and Chief of Obstetrics and he was an active member of the OB-GYN staff at Virtua Health Systems. Dr. Noone was a Chairman of the NJ State Maternal and Child Welfare Committee including the sub committees on Maternal Mortality and Teen Pregnancy. He was active in many medical societies, including: the American College of OB-GYN, Association of Professors of Gynecology & Obstetrics, Philadelphia Obstetrical Society, the NJ and Camden County Medical Societies and the American Medical Association. Dr. Noone served his country in both WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of the Diocese of Camden Family Life Bureau upon its formation. Pope John Paul II declared him a Knight of the Order of Saint Gregory the Great. He was a longtime member of Tavistock Country Club. Dr. Noone practiced medicine with unwavering dedication for over 54 years until his retirement in 2002.

Keller, Marion
(nee Davies), 91, died January 26, 2011 at the Evergreens in Moorestown, NJ of heart complications. Mrs. Keller was the wife of the late Fred Dickerson Keller to whom she was married 64 years. She had lived in The Evergreens for 15 years after moving from Haddon Township, NJ.
Mrs. Keller was born in New Brunswick, NJ and was the oldest of five children. She received her education in Wilkes Barre, PA. She had been the Advertising Manager of The Isaac Long Store in Wilkes-Barre and left to become a copywriter for BBD&O in New York City. Upon marriage, she transferred to BBD&O and Ruthruff and Ryan in Chicago. Mrs. Keller also became the first employee of the newly created Cherry Hill Shoppers Guide and was a volunteer member of the Women’s Board for the Cooper Health System for twenty years where she continued as a sustaining member.
Mrs. Keller is survived by her 2 daughters, Christine Travis Durham (Mark) of Montclair, NJ and Anne Keller Roorbach of Charlottesville, VA, her 5 grandchildren, Courtney Effinger (Kirk), Brooke Travis, Scott Travis, Kristen Jamison (Bingham) and Elisabeth Rapp (Charles), 4 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Nancy Davies Billet (William) of Falls Church, Va., and Joan Davies Michael (John) of Wilkes Barre, PA and many nieces and nephews.

Bean, Judith Marie
(nee Hubbs) of Haddonfield, New Jersey and Bonita Springs, Florida, passed away January 20th, 2011 due to complications from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Judy was born Judith Marie Hubbs on Wednesday, May 15th, 1935. She attended Merchantville High School and graduated from Beaver College in 1957. As a young girl, she received special honors for twelve years of perfect attendance at Trinity Methodist Church’s Sunday School.
She was a music supervisor for Pennsauken School District and 1st grade teacher at Cinnaminson School District until settling down in Haddonfield to raise her family.
Energetic and family oriented, Judy was very involved with the Haddonfield community, including the Home School Association, Newcomers Group, and Questers. As a basket weaver, she also initiated the Holiday Sampler Arts Show with friends from town. Recently, she was passionate about playing MAHJONG with friends. She adored all things English and antique.
An enthusiast of the arts and music, Judy was an accomplished pianist and proud contributor to the Haddonfield United Methodist Church Music Program, among other charities that were important to her and her children.
Her friends and family will remember her as kind, honest and devoted to her children and grandchildren. Judy Bean is survived by her husband Henry, 6 children: Scott Gaylert; Lisa Bean Alberts; Henry Bean III; Holly Bean; Linda Bean Alibrando and Sandra Bean Lewis, 18 grandchildren and sister, Gail Cundiff.

Also survived by 4 granddaughters and her sister, Margaret Siefert of Chapel Hill, NC. Mrs. Stow taught at the Haddonfield Methodist Nursery School for over 20 years. Finch, Patricia
Patricia O'Brien Finch was born in Rochester, New York, the second of four children of James C. and Norwena O'Brien. Her father, James, was a disinguished Rochester lawyer and Supreme Court Justice for the State of New York.
Patricia attended the Sacred Heart Convent primary school in Rochester, Brighton High School and the University of Rochester from which she graduated in 1943. For the following three years she was employed by IBM in Rochester.
During her school years Pat was very active in the Girl Scouts of America and most summers were spent at the family residence on Wellesley Island, located in upstate New York's Thousand Island region. Pat loved fresh water swimming and diving and excelled at both sports.
In June of 1946 Patricia and Stuart C. Finch, MD were married. At that time, Dr. Finch was a First Lt. in the U.S. Army Medical Corp with a two year assignment for the army of occupation in Japan. Pat joined him there and together they traveled extensively in the Far East and developed a strong attachment to the culture and many civilian friends in Japan. From 1948 to 1953 they were in Boston where Stuart received additional medical training and the three of their four children were born. They spent the next thirty years in New Haven, Connecticut where Stuart was a professor at Yale Medical School and their fourth child was born. During this time, Stuart became involved in medical follow-up studies of the atomic bomb survivors and the family spent six years residing in Hiroshima, Japan. Their final move was in 1980 to Haddondfield, New Jersey where Dr. Finch was involved in the development of the new New Jersey State medical school program at Cooper Hospital in Camden.
Over the sixty four years of marriage, Patricia has been Girl Scout troop leaders and has worked as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. She also studied the Japanese language and crafts, taught her many Japanese friends ballroom dancing and supervised the teaching of English to Japanese schoolchilren. However she is most proud of her strong and loving relationships with her husband and children. Throughout her lifetime she has been an avid reader and extensive communicator with her many friends and relatives.
Patricia is survived by her devoted husband, Stuart, their four children and six grandchildren. Son Jim, his wife Debbie and son Alexander live in Hua Hin, Thailand. Daughter Ellen and her daughter Victoria live in Belmont, California. Son Sheldon, his wife Laurel and their two children, Jack and Polly, live in San Mateo, California. Daughter Polly, her husband Bill and two children, Ellen and Charlotte, live in London, England. Patricia is also survived by her sister Ann Redmond of Philadelphia.

(nee Ayers) On Jan. 10, 2011, age 94, of Dallas, PA and Bonita Springs, FL, formerly a long time Haddonfield resident and wife of the late H. Robert. Loving mother of Robert A. (Barbara) Keck of Bonita Springs, FL and Carolyn A. (Timothy F.) Foran of Dallas, PA; grandmother of William D. Keck, Sandra A. Sharp, Wesley M. Carroccio and Emily L. Foran; great grandmother of William R. and Sara E. Sharp, Claire M., Andrew J. and Charles T. Carroccio. Also survived by many nieces & nephews including Margaret VanNatta (Patrick) Schoen of Woodbury Hts., NJ. Mrs. Keck, a registered nurse, had been a member of the Cooper Medical Center Nurses Alumnae Assoc. Also, she had been a long time member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Haddonfield. LOUCKS, James H., M.D.
On Jan. 4, 2011, age 82, a longtime Haddonfield resident, beloved husband of Dolores (nee Mark) and loving father of James M. (Francine) of Cherry Hill, NJ, Linda L. Roberts (Bob) of Barrington and the late Kim Marie Loucks. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Dr. Loucks graduated from Muhlenberg College and then Jefferson Medical College in 1961. He served in the United States Navy Medical Corps. He joined Crozer-Chester Medical Center as its Director of Medical Education. After 18 years and many improvements he resigned as the President-Administrator. He was instrumental in developing a network of Burn Centers at many hospitals including Crozer-Chester and St. Agnes Medical Centers. Dr. Loucks’ Services will be held privately. Theodore W. Sery, Ph.D. February 5, 1924 – January 2, 2011

On Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, age 86, of Haddonfield, beloved husband of Doris A. (nee Dragner); loving father of Paul G. (Lidia) of Albuquerque, NM, James (Nancy) of Clarksboro, NJ, Elizabeth A. Tuleja of South Bend, IN and Katherine E. Sery of Haddonfield; grandfather of Abigail and Alec Sery and brother of Robert of Silver Springs, MD and Ethel Trimmer of Santa Fe, NM.
Dr. Theodore Wilson Sery served in the Military of the Army of the United States, 1943-1946, 104th Infantry Division, Co. C 329th Combat Engineer Battalion, and was responsible for removing land mines. He was stationed in the European Theater of Operations, France, Belgium, Netherlands, and Germany until meeting with the Soviets at the Mulde branch of the Elbe River. He has written a book, “War Has a Stillness All Its Own,” (2010) about his experience as a young man during World War II, excerpts of which were published throughout 2004-2005 as a series in the Haddon Herald. He has also written an epic poem on the Gulag of the former Soviet Union. In addition, he was an active member of the American Legion Post 38, Haddonfield, NJ.
Dr. Sery earned his doctorate in Bacteriology and Immunology from Cornell University in 1954. He then joined the Will’s Eye Hospital research staff in 1955 as the director of the newly formed Department of Microbiology where he would serve for over 40 years until 1997 as the Chairman of the Basic Science Research Department. His research centered around corneal disease with an emphasis on herpes virus. By developing an animal model of chronic herpetic infection, Dr. Sery received the Zentmeyer award in 1960 from the Philadelphia College of Physicians and Surgeons. He was a prolific author, having published over 30 journal articles, and was a prodigious sharer of information. For example, he collected scores of specimens of viable retinoblastoma tissue, of which he successfully established several different cell lines of the disease. These cells were distributed to numerous laboratories worldwide, including laboratories which subsequently went on to identify and isolate the retinoblastoma gene.
In addition to his numerous scientific accomplishments, Dr. Sery served as the secretary for the Eastern Section of ARVO, as an NIH study section member, and as founder of the Eye Research Institute. He has most recently been the first to receive the Bower Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by Dr. Larry Donoso (of Wills Eye Hospital - they were colleagues and research partners for many years) who is the Director of the Bower Laboratory of the Philadelphia Retina Endowment Fund http://www.vision-research.org/.
As an active member of the community of Haddonfield, Dr. Sery, with his wife, Doris, were the founders of HOMH (Home Town Opportunities for the Mentally Handicapped) where they have created an arts program for adults with Down’s syndrome and other mental challenges, like his daughter, Kathy, which includes a theater troupe (Possibility Players) and an arts-centered day program (Pegasus Program). Most recently, he and his wife have been involved with the L’Arche Foundation, an organization that creates independent living communities for people with developmental disabilities http://friendsoflarchenj.org/index.html . Dr. Sery is known as a kind, generous and dedicated person – he is dedicated to his family, his church, his community, his profession, and his country.
Dr. Sery’s family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 7th, 10-10:45 AM, at the First United Methodist Church of Collingswood, 201 Dayton Ave., Collingswood, NJ; where his Service will follow at 11 AM. MONSHAW, Valdemar Russell
Of Haddonfield, NJ died on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at the age of 84. Mr. Monshaw graduated from Stuyvesant High School in New York City. He interrupted College to serve in the United States Army Air Corp from 1945-1947. He received his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from The College of the City of New York (CCNY) in 1949 and a Master of Electrical Engineering degree from CCNY in 1954. Upon graduation he was employed by the Signal Corps Engineering Laboratories. In 1956 he joined RCA Government Systems in Camden, NJ working on a number of military and classified programs.
In 1962 he transferred to the newly formed RCA Astro Electronics Division in Hightstown, NJ, working as an engineer and manager on a number of government, commercial and classified satellite programs. In 1979, as Director of Product Assurance he was responsible for the development and implementation of design analysis and assembly techniques to assure the reliability, quality and in-orbit functional lifetime of the RCA Astro observation, navigation, communication scientific and classified satellite systems. In 1986 he was included in Who’s Who in America for his contributions to the aerospace industry, in particular, satellites. In 1989 he joined GE Government systems Division in Moorestown, NJ with responsibilities for Radar and Sonar Systems in Moorestown, NJ and Syracuse, NY. He retired in 1991 to pursue private consulting.
Elected a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers in 1983 with the citation “for contributions to the reliability of space electronic systems” he was a recipient of the IEEE Centennial Medal in 1984 and the IEEE Third Millennium Medal in 2001. A member of the Philadelphia Section Executive Committee since 1984, he has also served as President of the IEEE Reliability Society, as General Chairman of the Reliability and Maintainability Symposium and as a member of the Hoover Medal Board of Award.
As the United States Representatives to the International Electrotechnical Committee for 12 years, he was Chairman of the committee responsible for the preparation of International Standards on Reliability analysis techniques that are now widely used in international commerce.
He is survived by his second wife Harriet Gotchel Weldon Monshaw, a brother Walter of West New York, NJ, two sons David of Huntington Beach, CA and Andrew of New Fairfield, CT, a stepdaughter Daria Barber of Austin, TX, four grandchildren, Alexander, Russell, Sydney and Stella. His first wife Margaret Collins died in 1998.
Mr. Monshaw’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 4th, 10-10:45 AM at St. Bartholomew’s Church, 1989 Route 70 East, Cherry Hill, NJ; where his Funeral Service will follow 11 AM. Burial will be private.
